Review: Regent Seven Seas Cruises

regent cruise reviews

We have travelled with Regent SSC on a number of previous occasions and have always enjoyed every minute. However during our recent trip around New Zealand and Australia we decided to book another package to Japan in 2025. So my American friends be aware, be very aware when words like free are used to promote a Regent SSC product. As for us, Regent are a lost cause we have even returned our loyalty pins so they can use them as FREE gifts for their next generation of punters. We in the meantime are looking at alternative companies with whom we can spend our money, and yes, there are several in the market.

Princess Cruises

Speaking of amenities, make sure you understand what you'll get as part of your fare and which extras will come with an additional cost. For example, most cruises offer drink packages for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but a few have drink stations where you can get complimentary lemonade, coffee and tea. Other amenities that might be important to you are Wi-Fi, spa services, babysitting, fitness classes, and upgraded dining experiences. You can usually get a decent discount if you sign up for an amenities package before you sail, so keep an eye out for promotions in the months leading up to your sailing. As impressive as Seven Seas Splendor is physically, with its polished marble, gleaming crystal chandeliers and luxe upholstery and linens, the ship truly shines in the superb dining experiences it offers guests.

All of these services are free for guests, including the use of the fitness centre. Guests can book a personal session with the trainer for a fee. All restaurants and meals (including specialty restaurants) are included in the price. In 2018, the Mariner went through a major facelift as part of the company’s $125 million renovation program. Prime 7, an upscale steakhouse, made its debut and its flagship restaurant Compass Rose got a new look. The pool deck was touched up and all suites were redesigned; new carpeting, furniture, and decor completed the look.

Features & News

We understand that time is the greatest luxury, which is why Condé Nast Traveler mines its network of experts and influencers so that you never waste a meal, a drink, or a hotel stay wherever you are in the world. Finally, give a sentence or two on why the cruise is worth booking. If you’re looking for a cruise that offers a sense of elegance and pampering, a voyage aboard Regent Seven Seas Explorer is for you.

Service was poor from beginning to end in almost all departments. Particularly bad was the 2 hr wait to be picked up and taken to our hotel from the airport. Food variable with long waits and tepid offerings Excursions excruciatingly poor. Avoid this line and I would advise cancel any booked trip. With its over-the-top features and world-class dining, Seven Seas Explorer delivers a luxurious experience that feels like something special. Whether the ship is the world's most luxurious is a judgment call, but Seven Seas Explorer makes a good case.

We were also booked Istanbul to Dubai on Nov. 10

Passengers with a sprinkling of Canadians, Australians and Europeans -- mainly Danish, German and Belgian. As Regent originates from and is based in North America, passengers from this part of the world are usually in the majority. To some extent, of course, the variance of nationalities onboard also depends on where the ship is sailing, with more American passengers when the ship sails in Asia, for example. In warm weather, the action moves to the lido deck (Deck 11), home to the pool, a grill, a bar and the La Veranda buffet restaurant. At night, three lounges and a cigar bar offer different vibes, from mellow to lively. Seven Seas Voyager is a relaxing ship with a cultured but informal ambiance and a high crew-to-passenger ratio.

It is shameful behavior that unfortunately will likely end up in small claims court. I would be very careful before dealing with this company. However, the ship was worn, constant cancellations of tours last minute without proper notification. All last minute fill ins were disappointing and bottom of the barrel. My first Regent Cruise, almost every frequent cruiser was disappointed and will consider Silver Seas.

The Splendor is the second of Regent’s Explorer-class ships which Regent describes as the most luxurious ships ever built. If you take a few minutes to watch the above video, I’m confident you will find their claim justified. There seemed to be relatively few children on board, but the Club Mariner Youth program features kids’ programming like dance parties or mini-putt tournaments for children ages five to 17. Cruising is not the most sustainable way to see the world and the industry is trying to make amends.

Waitlisted on several excursions for nearly a year

Now that sort of cruise is my idea of hell 😂😂 - I don't mind a couple of sea days but like to be off the ship exploring. We booked our first Regent cruise last month after becoming a little fed up with the Celebrity product. I looked at the general reviews and agree that many of them aren’t pretty.

Besides the bright and open design in ocean-inspired hues of blue and cream, I loved the attention to detail in my suite, down to the field glasses sitting in the cabinet, ready to help you spot wildlife or faraway islands. The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath Regent Suite, priced at $11,000 per night, offers spectacular amenities including its own hot tub, unlimited spa services offered in-suite, and private dining in a room hidden between two of the ship’s specialty restaurants. The luxury cruise line's sixth ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur, set sail for its inaugural season at the end of 2024. The ship was named one of T+L's best places to travel in 2024, and I was on board the ship’s three-night christening sailing for a first look inside the stunning new vessel.

Put on your best dress or your finest suit or tux, and make an entrance at dinner by walking down the atrium's grand staircase. Sign up for a cooking class at the onboard culinary kitchen, where you'll spend two hours sipping wine as a chef shows you how to make several delectable dishes. Or enjoy evening cocktails and live piano music in the stunning top-deck Observation Lounge. Most passengers' first reaction when seeing Seven Seas Voyage at the dock is surprise that the ship is so big ("All that for just 700 passengers?!"). While Voyager has nine passenger decks, it's not as long from stem to stern as ships that carry more passengers, making it easy to get around without long treks down a corridor. An atrium stretches the height of all the passenger decks, bringing light to the ship's interior.

There are elevators and ramps located throughout the common areas on the ship; I saw several guests navigating the ship using various mobility devices during my voyage. Split between Decks 4 and 5 is the Constellation Theater, the main entertainment venue where guests can watch four Broadway-style shows. I was thoroughly entertained by the "Marauder’s Ball," a pirate adventure told through pop songs and classic swashbuckling tunes. Also on Deck 4, guests can shop around the boutiques, play slots or table games at the glitzy casino, or hang out in the Grandeur Lounge. With daily news stories of delayed and canceled flights, lost baggage, and travelers stranded overseas in the middle of a natural disaster, it's ...

Do you need a wide range of activities to keep the kiddos happy while the adults live it up or relax? The onboard activities and amenities can really make or break your vacation, so be sure you know what you're getting. In summary, Regent Seven Seas Cruises is a luxury cruise line that offers all-inclusive sailings to some of the most desirable destinations in the world. The line is known for its exceptional service, gourmet dining options, and commitment to sustainability. Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway or an immersive cultural experience, Regent Seven Seas Cruises is an excellent choice for luxury travel.

With a capacity of 700 guests, the passenger to crew ratio is 1.56 to 1. It is considered to be one of the most luxurious cruises in the world. All of that said, the singers and dancers were phenomenal, and it's clear Regent sunk a lot of time, money and creativity into the costumes and sets. However, the end result just didn't stack up when compared with entertainment on bigger cruise ships. What I experienced was an abridged version that lasted only an hour, during which time we made spaghetti in lemon sauce, followed by crepes with blueberries and ice cream. Normally, the classes — which start at $89 per person — last about two hours and feature several dishes.

Compass Rose is the flagship restaurant and it’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner a la carte. There are specials every day and destination dishes are must-try; vegetarian dishes are available, too. Windows dot the restaurant, and, at night, Versace tableware makes an appearance on the tables.

But the complaints don’t hold a candle to what is happening over on Celebrity so like most things, I took the reviews with a grain of salt. Stumbled upon @vitacura’s wonderful live review, of which I’ve clung to every word and photo, and was hooked. Bottom line, I would never let a stack of reviews substitute for forming my own opinion. I like to take in a lot of information when researching travel, but take it at all at face value.
